Fall Friday in the 11th – a dream itinerary

Fall Friday in the 11th – a dream itinerary

Bonjour and bonne vendredi! More Friday daydreaming, and today I chose the 11th arrondisement of Paris. Why? Pourquoi pas? I want to visit Le Chardenoux one day and since it’s in the 11th, I thought I would wander around and spend a whole day there. Merci Google Streetview! It’s a very happening neighborhood of Paris. Bordered on the west by the Marais and the east by Pere Lachaise, you’ll find all kinds of ways to spend your day. Click for an interactive view of the map above. Here’s how to do a fall Friday in the 11th – a dream itinerary.

le matin

As you can see from the map, I’m all over the place, I almost made a circle around the 11th. Lots of the spots are near a metro, or you can just pick what interests you most and plan from there. I think Mokonuts would be a great place to start. They have a small but sweet breakfast menu. And I could finally try the real deal Rye Cranberry Chocolate Chunk cookie!

You could also start out at the Place de la Bastille at one of the many cafes and just sit back and enjoy the view of the Colonne de Juillet… and the Opéra Bastille.

If you’d like a later start with some tres cool shopping, how about the Used Book Café at the Paris concept store Merci? Technically it’s in the 3rd but literally just across the street from 11th. It would be difficile to find a cooler place to shop. I’ve always wanted to go, but have never been in the area. Now I am!

Wait a minute, what am I thinking?? There is a Wild & the Moon in the 11th! Start there! Check out the breakfast menu! They have a Nice Cream bowl! A Rose Latte! And watch Emma make a Hollyweed! Then head on down to Maison Kitsuné at 18 Boulevard des Filles du Calvaire (cue the music) and then Merci.

l’après midi I

L’Atelier des Lumières is in the center of the 11th, and it is probably something that you should not miss, it looks like a beautiful exhibit. I already mentioned it in my post friday in Paris avec ma soeur. Speaking of, the 11th seems like a very vegan friendly place too. The VG Pâtisserie we visit is there, and so is Aujourd’hui Demain, a vegan concept store, and Lotus & Cactus the vegan tapas bar!

After L’Atelier you could head north and also visit the Musée Edith Piaf, make sure to reserve ahead. Also make sure to listen to The Earful Tower Podcast with Edith, really charming and fun. Near by is Casablanca, a sweet looking vintage clothing store. For lunch, head to PNY OBERKAMPF, known for their burgers, I would love to try their Atomic Burger with Portobello mushrooms, panko, aged cheddar and secret sauce or the Forest Nirvana a veggie burger with vegan cheddar, ketchup, mustard and pickles.

l’après midi II

But the whole reason I came to the 11th was Le Chardenoux at 1 rue Jules Vallès. Another restaurant from Cyril Lignac, it looks just gorgeous. I can finally try the Crab Galette. It’s just off Rue de Charonne, a street that runs from the west border of the 11th to the east. You could probably spend a whole day just walking this street. So many cool clothing shops and restaurants. Wander along it and window shop. There’s even a store called The Shop Around the Corner – one of my favorite movies.

If there is time, I would head to Cimetière du Père Lachaise. Sure to see the beautiful and famous graves, but also maybe to look for foxes? Don’t get locked in, it closes at 6!

le soir

It’s Friday night, you know what that means… Pizza Friday! Wandering down Rue de Charonne, I came across Louie Louie. The très hip Septime and Clamato are just across the street. I told you this street was hoppin’. Start with a cocktail – La Vague with French Sake, Noilly Prat, Rosemary, Lime and Sencha Tea – looks amazing! I would have to go with the Pizza du moment – Fior di latte, Provolone, Champignons, Crème de truffe… or maybe the Stay Home – Tomate, Aubergine rôtie, Ail, Mozzarella di Bufala, Ricotta sèche fumée, Basilic, Origan?? Oh yeah, and Vogue Paris named it one of the best restaurants to get pizza in Paris.

Let’s end the evening with a nightcap. Head back up north to Perchoir Menilmontant. From their website “On 7 th floor of an industrial building, there is a rooftop terrace, a large bar, a snack shack. You will see birds, the Sacré-Coeur, fireplaces, tomato plants, vines, a pergola, soft cushions. ” Perfect! The Don Tunsi for me, merci! COGNAC RÉMY MARTIN VSOP, BELLEVOYE WHISKEY, COINTREAU, WILD ELDER BLOSSOM GIFFARD,
ROSE WATER, BITTER ANGOSTURA. Bonne nuit!

My fall Friday in the 11th – a dream itinerary – hope you had fun daydreaming, and hopefully Google Street-viewing, along with me! Have a beautiful weekend. À bientôt!
