TGIF – happy French Friday, Paris please!
Salut! This Friday I’ve got nothing really, nothing to write about that is. I’ve already written about heaven and earth, the moon and the stars. The family – ma sœur, husband, mom and princess puppy. Pizza, pizza, pizza. Paris, Paris, always Paris… le sigh. So today is just an ode to Friday, Paris style. Some random daydreams, musings and Parisian fun. TGIF – happy French Friday, Paris please!
petit déj’
In France the typical breakfast is a tartine, spread with butter and maybe jam and if you’re at home, dunked into a café au lait. A few Sunday’s ago, I found myself with some good sourdough bread for breakfast but no jam! Mais non! So I whipped up a quick batch and it was so good, I might just start making my confiture rapide all the time! In fact, on our last trip to Paris I brought home Pierre Hermé’s Confiture Ispahan. My project for this weekend!
Quick Raspberry Jam
Ingredients
- 1 cup frozen raspberries * or a combo of raspberries and blackberries
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp corn starch
- 1 dash crème de cassis * optional, but really makes it magical 🦄
Instructions
- Put frozen raspberries in a small sauce pan. Add a dash of water and the lemon juice and cook on medium-low heat, stirring often. Mix cornstarch with just enough cold water to dissolve. After raspberries have cooked about 10 minutes, add cornstarch mixture and stir. Add a dash of cassis. Transfer to a pretty bowl and enjoy on a slice of good toasted bread!
amuse-bouche
I’m always amusing myself with daydreams of Paris. Imagine my joy at finding something else besides all the walks on YouTube. Live shows on Beamz! Today at 2:30 EST is The Hidden Gems and Secrets of Paris… allons-y!
I subscribed to Art Vision TV on YouTube to get my Paris walk fix. Here is an ÎLE SAINT LOUIS to amuse yourself with. And here is a Paris Rental channel that I just hit subscribe on – I could get lost there for quite a while.
For an amusing Paris podcast to take you to Paris, I recommend the Earful Tower’s latest with Diederick and Flora Magnifica talking about the silk flowers Diederick sells in the Marais. Good conversation, I can just picture sitting in the shop and talking away the afternoon with them.
Just around the corner from Flora is the Place des Vosges and Carette. I’ve mentioned Carette before as somewhere perfect to go with maman for petit déj’ and pastry and macarons. But it looks like they have a beautiful lunch menu too! Will it be canapés and tea? Or how about one of their beautiful salads? The Exotic with “crab meat, shrimps in cocktail sauce, green beans, carrot, avocado, tomato, mango” sounds amazing, but so does the Vegetarian with “carrot, tomato, avocado, potato, red cabbage, celery, hard-boiled egg, cucumber, green beans, chives“, feel the healthy! I can’t wait to make both next week!
pizza time
French Friday means pizza, preferable Paris style! Doesn’t Bonvivant Pizza (pictured above) look très charmant? I came across them on Instagram on Le Fooding’s page. Isn’t that a beautiful pizza? I’m inspired by their Pizza Napoli though. “Pâte farine bio, sauce tomate bio, anchois, olives taggiasche et basilic“. And oui, the Jardin d’hiver sounds beautiful also with hummus and root vegetables, but the Napoli is more traditional and that’s what I’m feeling this Friday. Taggiasche are basically Niçoise olives. I’ll be using my Francine French Pizza mix that I purchased on Le Panier Francais for this pizza.
Thats all I have for today, juste un peu de rêverie 🥰 Have a dreamy weekend, and TGIF – happy French Friday, Paris please! À bientôt!
Fantastic!!
