Perfect day in Paris – trip of a lifetime part III

Salut and happy Friday! I’m doing a little daydreaming, as usual, of Paris. In honor of my mom’s birthday this weekend 🎉, I thought a dream itinerary in Paris with her is in order. Goop even has a guide for that, mais oui. Here is mine. A perfect day in Paris – trip of a lifetime part III.

We probably would have to stay at Hôtel Abbatial Saint Germain. We stayed there for part II and it was ideal. I’ve mentioned it before. I can still picture maman sitting in the bathroom window (the whole room had french windows that opened onto small balconies) watching the streets down below 🥰.

Maybe mom would like to stay in an actual apartment this time though? I see a bunch of charming apartment rentals on VRBO. What about this sweet one overlooking the Place Dauphine? This one is there too – looking right over La Rose de France… le sigh. That would be perfect, she would love it. I’ve mentioned Place Dauphine and La Rose before too 🌹.

le matin

For petit déjeuner it would have to be Café de Flore, just a short walk down Boulevard Saint-Germain. I know Mark and I’s go to is Les Deux Magots just next door, but this would be unique for mom and moi. She could have a Mariage Frères tea and I of course would have café au lait.

Next we could just wander down the boulevard and window shop. We can take it as slow and easy as maman wishes. Of course stopping by Pierre Hermé for my favorite macarons.

l’après midi

I don’t believe mom and I used the Batobus on our last trip 🤔 Maybe she would want to take a ride over to our obligatory viewing of La Tour Eiffel? Or a better idea would be to hire a driver. No more navigating the metro (and all it’s stairs!) for maman! First to La Tour for a photo. Then maybe to the Arc de Triumph for a closer look? She only saw it quickly on a taxi ride back to the airport before. Next driver could drop us off at the Luxemburg Gardens for a few hours. Maman has seen the Tuilleries but not the Luxemburg. Driver could drop us off at Bread & Roses and we could get some bread or sandwiches or quiche to go and eat it in the park. Then we could have driver meet us and wisk us off to Shakespeare & Company for a little book shopping. We would grab some mini cream puffs from Odette right behind Shakespeare and eat them under the oldest tree in Paris, right there in the Square René Viviani… le double sigh 🌳

le soir

Now it’s time to cruise the seine! After a little rest back in our room, mais oui. The Vedettes du Pont Neuf offers a happy hour or champagne cruise 🥂. We did a sunset cruise in Budapest, time for one in Paris!

It’s Friday, which means pizza, and Babalou looks absolutely charming, like a little flowery pizza cottage. Just next to the Basilique du Sacre-Coeur, it would be an excellent excuse to take a ride to Montmartre and see it lit up at night. Check out the Google street view – you literally are looking straight up at Sacre-Coeur! They have pasta in case mom isn’t in the mood for pizza, but I think she will be when she sees the Babalou with ricotta, mozzarella fior di latte, shavings of parmesan, artichauts, citron confit, olives noires and thyme. They even have a Vegani with sauce tomate, champignons, poivrons grillés, oignons confits, artichauts à la romaine and olives! Then back to the room maybe for a little digestif as we gaze out our windows with the tip of the Eiffel Tower glowing in the distance.

And there it is! A perfect day in Paris – trip of a lifetime part III. Doesn’t it sound like a beautiful dream? I’ll be visiting my mom this weekend, so I won’t have time for a monday meditation blog post. See you next Friday! À bientôt!
