How to have a happy rentrée -it’s September quoi de neuf!

Salut! Happy September! It’s that time of year, summer is ending and autumn is just ahead. In Paris it’s la rentrée – everyone is back to work or school refreshed from their summer vacation. There is an excitement in the air. I’ve always loved this time of year. It’s like New Years, except in my favorite season – the fall. Full of optimism with new plans and goals, a fresh start. And the September issue of Vogue! So hear we go! How to have a happy rentrée -it’s September quoi de neuf!

rentrée refresh

The first thing I’m doing to ring in la rentrée is to do a little detox, a little reset if you will. No one does a detox like Goop does, and I found the perfect one. A Quick, Three-Day Summer Detox is vegetarian, uses seasonal produce and has some delicious recipes I can’t wait to try. I mean, look at these beautiful waffles! I’ve already tried the Indian Spiced Black Dhal-Stuffed Sweet Potato, IT WAS SO GOOD. Hopefully I’ll get back on track with this, and if I keep practicing my Parisian way of eating, voilà – refreshed! I’m also doing a little Detoxify yoga, with Boho of course. She also has some detox videos on YouTube. And speaking of refresh, here’s an interesting article on rentrée skincare. I’ve got the green tea, turmeric and fruit covered, but Irish Moss? Hmmm…

rentrée reads

September is always a time I get back into reading. I slacked off during the summer, I still haven’t finished Proust or gotten to Little Culinary Triumphs, that I picked up in NYC. I’m looking forward to all of the books I have on my list, right before bed, maybe with a cup of rose tea. Vanessa Yu’s Magical Paris Tea Shop does sound magical. I heard about the Margot Affair on The New Paris Podcast. The Serendipity Mindset would be perfect for la rentrée. The Chiffon Trenches: A Memoir by André Leon Talley looks like a fun, must-read, especially along side my September Vogue magazines.

rentrée regardez/ecoutez

I’m going to try to spend more time reading than watching tv and really, I’m not seeing anything that looks very interesting out there. Bill and Ted Face the Music might be excellent though 😜 I’ve been watching the Tour de France, mais oui, weird that it’s in September. Emily in Paris, which will be on Netflix, looks très corny, but it’s set in Paris, I know I’ll enjoy the scenery.

Getting ready to listen to Dangerous and Scintillating (w/ Gwyneth Paltrow) on the Literally! With Rob Lowe podcast. Yay! Speaking of GP, there’s a Goop Podcast for the Serendipity Mindset book I mentioned above.

Also a friend sent me this from First Aid Kit, a cool song, especially right now.

rentrée mode

I love fall clothes. It was always so exciting to go back-to-school shopping. I also love the September issue of Vogue. Its so inspiring. I’ve bought it every year for at least 30 years. Last year I ordered the September Paris Vogue on eBay , and I just ordered this years, with the theme of Hope, I can’t wait.

My favorite thing to buy for fall? Boots! According to Vogue Paris one big boot trend for rentrée is riding or equestrian boots. Aren’t these the coolest?? Now I need to unsee them because I’ll never find anything like them, especially now that I’m shopping for vegan boots. I always get pictures in my mind of the exact item I want and then can never find it. Like this cardigan from Goop, or this one. I’ve been looking for months. Obviously, I’m on somewhat of a budget.

It seems like the fall clothes are slow to come out this year, probably because of everything that’s going on. I’ll keep you updated on my search. But check out the best mask ever I did purchase from Coral & Tusk. I love it. 💕🦊

rentrée recipe

I’ve been doing the Goop detox and all of the recipes would be great for September, detox or not! Here is a great article from Elle with some awesome and quick recipes for rentrée, I’ll be keeping that on file. I want to use as much seasonal local produce as I can for sure, and I want to keep it simple. I’ve been craving falafel, what about Zucchini Falafel? Instead of my Magical Gazpacho, I need to make regular Gazpacho before the season is over. This Summer Gazpacho Recipe from Bon Appétit looks beautiful. And last but not least, how about this Pecan-Miso Butter and Jelly Sandwich for a fun work lunch? I’ll be talking about more recipes Friday for the long holiday weekend.

So there it is, my version of how to have a happy rentrée -it’s September quoi de neuf! Join me for Foodie Friday, and have a great hump day! A bientôt!
