How to celebrate a happy anniversary – Paris style

Bonjour et happy Friday, finally! A looong week – so I’m looking forward to a mini vacation next week to celebrate husband and I’s wedding anniversary, Paris style, mais oui! I am of course daydreaming of next year and our special 10th anniversary trip to Paris. As soon as we step out of the taxi, I will kiss the ground. I miss her so much! So welcome and enjoy – how to celebrate a happy anniversary – Paris style!

Let’s begin with where to stay. This is our anniversary, and who knows when we will get to visit Paris again. Let’s make the most of it and start off with a couple of nights at The Westin Paris Vendôme with Eiffel Tower views! The ideal location, close to the Tuileries, Louvre, Rue du Rivoli, Da Rosa… le sigh. Afterwards, we can move over to our original honeymoon suite at Hotel Notre Dame. We really loved it there, and 42 is calling our name.

For petit déjeuner, breakfast in bed! With a view of the Eiffel! And champagne, of course 🍾. If you absolutely must go out, Angelina is just a few steps away. Enjoy a PETIT-DÉJEUNER PARISIEN in the beautiful dining room or take it to go, across the street to the Jardin des Tuileries, a perfectly Parisian way to start your anniversary day in Paris! All that’s left is a stroll around the gardens, and maybe a visit to L’Orangerie?

I think the best way to spend an afternoon in Paris is just to wander, and be happy and grateful that you are able to be there on your anniversary! Walk along the Seine and head towards the bustling Latin Quarter, peeking in windows and watching life, Parisian style, go by. Walk over to Boulevard Saint Germain and stroll and observe some more. Take in every detail, so you can remember this day forever. Practice your mindfulness, breath and live each moment to it’s fullest. Stop in wherever catches your fancy. Take a break and have a drink at Les Deux Magots!

Because it’s our anniversary, and we’re in Paris, our tradition is a picnic at the Eiffel Tower. Make it yours too, c’est le meilleur! Jump on the metro at Mabillion in the direction of Boulogne, get off at La Motte-Picquet – Grenelle and switch to line 8 in the direction of Créteil, exiting at the next stop École Militaire. From there you’re right around the corner from Rue Cler, one of the best rues in Paris. Easy, non? Pick up your picnic supplies, head over to La Tour and have a splendid sunny Friday afternoon!

Ok, so we know by now Friday night is pizza night! Our anniversary in 2022 will be on a Thursday, so for sure we will be having dinner at Le Petit Chatelet, our favorite restaurant in Paris, where we had our engagement and honeymoon dinner. But on Friday, we’ll be celebrating with pizza! How to choose? One that I’ve mentioned before like Alimento, which we loved, Bonvivant, which I can’t wait to try, Louie Louie, which looks so good, or the charming Babalou in Montmartre? For the sake of le blog, I will find us something new. Et regarde! I’ve found us something completely different – a pizza cruise on the Seine! We had a wonderful dinner cruise on our engagement trip to Paris (pic above), it’s time to do it again, Pizza Friday style! Pizza sur Seine is the first floating pizzeria in Paris. During the 90 minute evening cruise you are served antipasti to start, 6 different pizzas to try throughout and a speculoos tiramisu to end! Parfait!

After a short stop at Shywawa, let’s end our day just as we started it, with a champagne toast gazing at a sparkling Eiffel Tower from our window at The Westin 🥂.
