How to make a Perfect Parisian Pizza and more – happy August!
Salut! Welcome to Wednesday and quoi de neuf, August edition! It’s been a little difficile, keeping up with le blog, now that I’m back to work. I’m trying to take notes of cool things I come across and do so that I can pass them on to you. Bare with me chers readers! Quoi de neuf? How to make a Perfect Parisian Pizza and more – happy August!
Do
I did a little dream manifesting ritual under the full moon very early Monday morning (the moon was completely full at 11 am), inspired by Shayna at the Purple Palace. She is so enchanting. You should watch and be inspired too for the next full moon (September 2nd).
I feel like I’ve forgotten how to do my face, especially my eyes, since the focus is on them when the mask is on 😷. I will be joining Violette for some makeup lessons, that should do the trick.
Watch
I found the perfect little escape if you need one during your day. Actually you could get lost here for hours. Check out the view from someone else’s window at WindowSwap.
I’m thinking about re-watching the French series Call My Agent! on Netflix for my Parisian fix, I’m sure it will be just as entertaining the second time around. The Hook Up Plan takes place in Paris too, it’s also a lot of fun.
On my To Watch list is the In Goop Health Laura Rubin: Journaling Workshop. I’m still journaling, but not every day because it’s been hard to fit in with a workout in the morning. Maybe I’ll start alternating and write sometimes in the evening. I’m anxious to see what advice Laura will have. Today, LIVE, at 3 pm on In Goop Health is Gwyneth Paltrow & Cameron Diaz: In Conversation. You know that will be entertaining!
Wear
I picked up a few cool, casual things to wear to work recently. One of my favorite finds were these shoes from Zara in the burgundy color. I ordered a few denim skirts from J. Crew that are nice, one in blue and one in white. I’m also wearing something new on my eyes – Salut Paris (check out the cute mirror inside)! Oh – and speaking of masks, I just received these from Homesite on Etsy. Très charmant.
Cook
I’ve been cooking all kinds of good things. I made Gwyneth’s Salmon Burgers with Pickled Ginger & Cilantro from It’s All Good twice in one week they were that good. I think it’s the pickled ginger in them that gives them that je ne sais quoi, and the sriracha mayo that goes on it would be delicious with so many things.
We made The Ultimate Tomato Sandwiches for Sunday brunch and they were the jam! What really made it though were the heirloom tomatoes from my garden that my wonderful friend Amy started for me. Look for Black Krim tomatoes, grow them for yourself if you can.
Speaking of tomatoes, I need to make Audrey’s Spaghetti al Pomadoro soon! And you know I love pistachios, so I will be trying these Brochettes De Poulet Aux Épices Saté very soon also, don’t they look just perfect, and delicious?
Here it is, another pizza recipe! I can’t help it, I LOVE pizza. For sure my answer to the question “If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life what would it be?“. And mes amies, this really is one of the most delicious pizzas I’ve made, or even eaten, ever. You really have to try it. I’ll leave you with this gem of a recipe. Until Frenchy Foodie Friday, à bientôt!
Perfect Parisian Pizza
Ingredients
For the dough
- 2 cups flour * plus extra for dusting and kneading
- ¾ cup warm water
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 3 tbsp olive oil
For the pizza
- olive oil * to drizzle
- 6 ounces Gruyere, shredded
- 6 ounces mushrooms, thinly sliced * about 6 mushrooms
- 1 ball Burrata cut/torn into pieces making sure not to lose the creamy center
- 4 ounces Parmesan
- 4 ounces St. Andre cheese * aprox. I just tore some slices into little chunks and sprinkled on
- truffle oil optional
- parsley
Instructions
Make the dough
- Make the dough the night before. Pour the warm water and yeast into a bowl, let sit 5 minutes. Put flour, sugar and salt in bowl of stand mixer and combine. Add yeast mixture and olive oil to flour mixture. Mix/knead using dough hook for 8 minutes. If mixture looks too sticky, add more flour as needed. Place dough on lightly floured surface, knead a few times by hand and form into a ball. Place in large oiled bowl and cover, put in fridge overnight.
Make the pizza
- When ready to make pizza, make sure and take dough out of fridge and bring to room temp first. Cut into two balls, form into as thin of a crust as you can manage. Let rest for a few. This method (from this video/article) works perfectly.Place pizza stones in oven and preheat oven to 475 F (if you don’t have pizza stones, use upside down sheet pans but don’t preheat them). If baking on an upside down sheet pan, put dough on lightly floured pans first. Drizzle each pizza lightly with olive oil. Add Gruyere to each then add mushrooms. Top each with pieces of burrata then sprinkle with Parmesan. Use a pizza peel to place on pizza stones in oven. Alternately, use an upside down lightly floured sheet pan to slide pizzas on to pizza stone. Finally, bake about 10 minutes, or until desired doneness. Remove from oven, place on cutting board. Top each with pieces of Saint Andre, and a drizzle of truffle oil and some chopped parsley. Slice, savor and plan to make again next Friday!

luv your masks! off to watch Violette, good idea! I’m at a loss, lipstick is my thing!! 🙁
I know ✌ I would love some Birks in black… What made the sandwich were our tomatoes, it was so good we toasted some more Eziekal bread and just had the tomatoes on them, no mayo or eggs. We’re making them again this Sunday 😜
