how to CBD and chill – a monday meditation

“You don’t need another inspirational quote, you just need CBD.”

Bonjour! A new week and a new month begins! Razzmatazz inspired me to meditate on the benefits of CBD. Researching how I could help her with her senior dog problems, I found so many articles about CBD oil and how it can help. After this very informative guest post on hemp, I thought I’d dig a little deeper into CBD. How to CBD and chill – a monday meditation!

what it is

“That is not a drug. It’s a leaf”

– Arnold Schwarzenegger

CBD is a compound found in the hemp plant. It is a component of marijuana but by itself CBD is non-psychoactive. THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), is the chemical compound in cannabis that gets users high.

CBD, short for cannabidiol, is a cannabinoid – a molecule that helps the functioning of our endocannabinoid system, which regulates our mood, sleep cycle, inflammation, immune response, basically balance in the body. An antioxidant itself, it increases our own natural antioxidants, and works on serotonin receptors.

The first CBD I tried was from a company called Charlotte’s Web. In 2012, the Stanley Brothers developed a strain of hemp called Charlotte’s Web. This strain was high in CBD but low in THC. It was shared with a girl named Charlotte Figi, who had Dravet Syndrome, a rare form of epilepsy. It helped her symptoms and reduced the frequency of her seizures. Because of this, medical marijuana laws in America began to change and thus the company Charlotte’s Web was born.

what it does

“The brain is about a symphony, and CBD can bring the entire symphony into harmony”.

CBD has anti-inflammatory properties. It helps reduce the inflammation that causes pain. It has also been show to provide benefits for those with neurological disorders, and to reduce the progression of Alzheimer’s disease (also in animals, which is why it could help with doggie dementia.)

CBD oil can help with depression and anxiety, in humans and in animals. This may be somewhat due to the fact that it helps increase your level of anandamide. This neurotransmitter is the same one that leads to a “runner’s high”. Anandamide is named after the Sanskrit word for joy, bliss, or happiness. Because CBD oil helps with pain/inflammation and anxiety, root causes of insomnia, it also helps with sleep.

fun fact: You can even use it in place of hand sanitizer in a pinch. CBD is naturally antimicrobial and can help kill some nasty germs.

what to try

“CBD will change culture. People are less interested in drinking in bars, getting really drunk, feeling shit the next day, letting their body down, having issues with their body because of that. The shift is happening: more people are interested in eating healthier, living healthier, and this is part of that”.

The cannabidiol industry is projected to be worth $22 billion by 2022. Hotels are now offering guests cannabis-infused room service menus. There is even a Your CBD Store right down the street from me, with a sign on the door that says pet friendly!

You know if Goop is all about it, it’s a thing 😎 They have A Guide to CBD-Spiked Cocktails that I need to refer to tout suite. Speaking of Goop, Goop alumni have launched a CBD beauty site for women Fleur Marché (comme c’est joli!

And now you know your CBD’s! Here’s a new journal that says just that! To learn more about CBD, the book Merry Jane’s The CBD Solution should help. And whenever we make it back to Paris, CBD is all the rage there, aussi! So prayers for princess puppy that the CBD oil will help. I hope you have a chill week too. Merci to sister for the excellent Halloween post! À bientôt!
