Happy Friday and a lovely lunar new year!

Happy Friday and a lovely lunar new year!

Salut! TGIF! Today the new moon welcomes in the Lunar New Year and the Year of the Ox. Supposedly, the Year of the Ox will be a year of endurance. Here’s a great article about it from Pure Wow. Last year I was in NYC for the New Year (of the Rat!) While we were in Chinatown we purchased a set of chopsticks from Yunhong Chopsticks. A couples love set 🥰. How lovely for a Lunar New Year celebration and for Valentines Day. Happy Friday and a lovely lunar new year!

lucky

Like many holidays, the lunar new year is centered around food (story of my life 😋). It’s all about the dumplings – dumplings symbolize wealth. Spring rolls do too. Noodles symbolize longevity. Remember to wear your red, it’s associated with luck and prosperity. Which is convenient for the upcoming Valentine’s Day too 😉.

Traditionally, the lunar new year is about spending time with family. Alas, I’ll be sending my love from afar – bisous ma famille 😘! 2020 Lunar New Year in NYC found us at Nom Way Tea Parlor for Dim Sum. C’est moi in the door! ➡ ➡ ➡

What fun! Husband, princess puppy and I celebrated the Lunar New Year’s Eve with dumplings! No time to make homemade, so I picked up some from Target, along with Spring Rolls and Kung Pao Cauliflower… another fun dim sum meal 🥟. Don’t forget oranges for dessert – they bring good luck!

lovely

So what about that other holiday coming up on Sunday? On the menu Chez Barton for 💕 Day are Turkey Meatballs and SpaghettiGoop style, mais oui! I think it’s perfect – it reminds me of Lady and the Tramp 🐶. We will be starting with a heart shaped Brie, maybe I can find heart shaped bread 😜? And my Ispahan Martini would be perfect. The lychee was a symbol for love, beauty and well-being in ancient china. We will probably brake out a special bottle of our Castello di Amorosa wine, most likely. For dessert, maybe Anna Kloots Brownie Recipe? Or perhaps the Tahini Brownie recipe I mentioned in Februarys quoi de neuf?

Speaking of the Tramp, how about sending a little love to your local shelter? Freekibble is doing their 3rd Annual Send a Valentine – what a sweet idea! I’m sending love to my inspiration Shayna and am looking forward to my new sweet print! Also love to Lovely Lina while waiting for her charming print of Brasserie on Ile Saint Louis. No I did not forget about Pizza Friday! I’m thinking Pizza Hut? Lovely. Beaucoup d’amour to you too dear reader. Happy Friday and a lovely lunar new year! À bientôt!
