monday meditation on the fruit of the spirit – peace
“If you are depressed you are living in the past if you are anxious you are living in the future, if you are at peace, you are living in the present.”
Lao Tzu
My retreat is over. By the time you are reading this I will be back at work after a four month furlough. I think of it as a retreat, a well-being retreat, because I have learned so much, because I have used the time to work on me. My faith has grown. I have gained wisdom, from learning how to create a blog to learning all sorts of things while researching for Charlotte Le Blog. I am at peace with where I am right now. This is my monday meditation on the fruit of the spirit – peace.
being present
I believe the most important thing I have learned during my retreat is to be mindful and present. To live in the now. It is what truly brings peace. I found the quote above is exactly right. If I find myself anxious, or depressed, I take deep, centering breaths and focus on the now. This is the whole idea of meditation and during my retreat I have meditated almost every day. I am so grateful for Boho Beautiful meditations. Here is a perfect one for peace.
take time
“You find peace not by rearranging the circumstances of your life, but by realizing who you are at the deepest level.”
Eckhart Tolle
One of my favorite posts, the one I refer to again and again, is the one about taking time. Learning to take the time to get to know myself has helped make me wiser. It has given me peace with who I am now. Once you start to take the time to know yourself you will learn what to focus on. What traits to cultivate, good and bad. As George Michael said “You’ll never find peace of mind until you listen to your heart.” Take the time to give yourself your full attention.
peace out
“Peace is always beautiful.”
Walt Whitman
We all strive for peace. Peace on earth is a beautiful thought. Blessed are the peacemakers. Finding peace with the people you are surrounded by makes each day a little more beautiful. Finding peace in yourself makes you a little more beautiful too. This week find your peace. Meditate, take the time to take care of yourself, spend some time outside in peaceful nature. “You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.” – Isaiah 55:12 Isn’t that a beautiful image? To end this monday meditation on the fruit of the spirit – peace, I’ll leave you with this song – Peace by George Winston from the album December. À bientôt!
“Each morning
we are born again.
What we do today
is what matters most”
-Budda
